An officer under Sun Quan and successor to Lu Su. He played a crucial role in the capture of Jing Province from Liu Bei and the defeat of Guan Yu.
Lü Meng was initially uninterested in scholarly study, but Sun Quan convinced him to read on a regular basis. His transformation impressed even Lu Su, who had once dismissed him as an uneducated fighter. In response to Lu Su's newfound praise, Lü Meng famously remarked, "A scholar should be viewed with new respect after three days' separation."
